The Anaconda Choke

Whether you know it as the Anaconda Choke, Nog Choke, Gator Roll or the Rolling Arm Triangle Choke, this technique has become popular due to Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira’s success with it in PRIDE Fighting Championship. He submitted Hirotaka Yokoi with it in PRIDE-Total Elimination 2004, and Heath Herring in PRIDE-Critical Countdown 2004.

The Anaconda Choke is a form of arm-triangle choke (or simply arm-triangle), which is a generic term describing chokeholds in which the opponent is strangled in between his own shoulder and the performers’ triangled arms. This is as opposed to the regular triangle choke, which denotes a chokehold using the legs, albeit with a similar mechanism of strangulation against the opponent’s own shoulder.
